What is the Trigeminal Nerve?
When the temporomandibular joint comes out of alignment, it is called TMJ or TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder). TMD can cause pain and discomfort all over the face as a result of irritating the trigeminal nerve. Some of the other serious side effects of TMD include:
- Chipped, Worn, or Cracked Teeth as a result of Tooth Grinding
- Migraine Headaches
- Jaw Pain
- Neck Pain
- Facial Pain
- Sensitive Teeth
- "Lock" Jaw
To help you deal with your TMD pain or trigeminal nerve pain, the experienced neuromuscular dentistry professionals at the Colonial Dental Group in Glenview, Illinois will evaluate the status of your temporomandibular joint and trigeminal nerve and determine how best to correct the alignment of your jaw.
If you live in the Chicago, Illinois area and are dealing with trigeminal nerve pain, please schedule an initial consultation with the Colonial Dental Group to learn about TMD and how you can correct it.
