Why Consider White Fillings?
Our office uses porcelain onlays and inlays on our patients and they perform and look just like natural teeth. In the past, porcelain fillings weren't durable enough to be used on the back teeth, but with the help of new technology, they can be used on all teeth.
Procedure
There is really not much difference between getting a white filling and an amalgam filling. The procedure can be done in two office visits. The steps include:
- First, your tooth will be prepared. This involves removing any decay in the tooth and then “etching” the tooth so that that porcelain will properly adhere to the tooth.
- Second, once your tooth has been prepped, we will make a mold of the tooth cavity and it will be sent to a dental lab to be custom created for you.
- Third, we will place a temporary filling in your tooth to allow you to live a normal life while your custom filling is being made.
- Lastly, you will come back to the office to have the temporary filling removed and the permanent filling placed.
If you are considering white fillings, call or email our office, which serves Chicago and surrounding areas, to schedule a personal consultation with one of our experienced cosmetic dentists.
