Instant Orthodontics
For decades, people have assumed that in order to change the position of their teeth and get the straight smile they wanted, they would have to suffer through years of braces. We are now happy to provide our patients with the option to correct the position of their teeth in just a couple of visits to our Glenview, Illinois cosmetic dentistry office.
Instant orthodontics is a term for porcelain veneers and/or dental bonding. These two procedures can quickly transform your smile, giving your teeth a straight and even appearance without any use of braces.
For porcelain veneers, we will remove a very thin layer of enamel from the front tooth surfaces. We will take photographs, an impression of your teeth and some measurements. This data will be sent to a dental lab for your veneers to be custom-made. While you wait we can use dental bonding to provide a temporary surface for the treated teeth. The finished veneers will be bonded to your teeth in a second visit.
For dental bonding (also referred to as composite resin), no tooth enamel needs to be removed, and no data sent to the dental lab. We apply the bonding directly to any teeth that need reshaping or repairing, harden it with a curing light, and the procedure is finished.
With both veneers and bonding, the restoration is color-matched to your natural teeth. Veneers are used only on front teeth but bonding can be used anywhere in the mouth.
